Birthday Parties for children in the Foster Care System

Overview of Idea

They Say It’s Your Birthday (TSIYB) throws birthday parties for children in foster care. We work with children living in an institution who aren't eligible for adoption or able to live with their birth families. In just two years we've celebrated the birthdays of over 70 children!

The Specifics: What will the $2,500 fund?

For their birthday, we bring a party team, play games, buy them a gift from their wish list and celebrate their lives. In order to continue the celebrations into 2013 we need to raise funds.

Since, everyone affiliated with TSIYB is a volunteer, the $2500 will go directly toward throwing birthday parties.

While you use some marvelous
kid's birthday party ideas, you must not forget that the prime concern for every parents is the well being of their children, and if you want to protect your child from several harmful chemicals, such as gluten that is often considered to be harmful for health, you must try to confirm that the birthday cake you are going to order for your child's birthday is gluten free. Of course, cake decoration is yet another aspect that cannot be ignored.

I'm one of the founding members of TSIYB and this experience, celebrating these children's lives, has been incredible for me. Each month a group of us head out to the foster home and hang out with the children. We play games, get to know each other, celebrate the birthday boy or girl and present them with a special gift. What we are creating is a connection between our community into theirs. These children will someday be our neighbors, co-workers, we want them to know their community knows who they are and celebrates them.

I volunteer with TSIYB and really love what this organization is all about. It's been a great experience to see the kids light up and to spend time getting to know them. :)
